PSL Points Table 2023
All six franchises of Pakistan Super League (PSL) will battle for a month to win the title and be crowned as PSL T20 champions.
PSL 8 promises to be an exciting event as all franchise management and players will be focused on giving better performances than their previous ones.
Islamabad United, the most successful team in the history of PSL so far has won the title twice and ranked top in group stages of PSL 6 with 8 victories (2021-most by any team till PSL 6).
Multan Sultans, on the other hand, has won the title once and they ranked top in the group stage of HBL PSL 7 (2022) with 9 victories (most by any team till now.)
They will be looking to finish on the top by giving top-notch performance this season.
Lahore was crowned as the winner of PSL 7 however they are the only team to finish outside the playoffs on five different occasions.
PSL 8 will be hosted in four different venues National Stadium, Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan and Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
PSL Standings Criteria
The format of the tournament is according to a double round-robin and knockout format. Each team will battle twice in the group stage with each team in the league.
Rankings will be determined after the teams have played 10 matches each. The top 4 in PSL Points Table – standings will Qualify for the playoffs.
The following criteria will determine the ranking of the teams in the group stages:
- The team with the highest points on the PSL Standings at the end of the group stage will finish in the first position.
- If teams have an equal number of points on PSL Standings, then the team with a higher net run rate will finish higher.
- In case, the points and the net run rate are equal on PSL Standings. The team with the highest number of wins in the group stage will finish higher.
- If the above criteria are equal as well, then the team with fewer losses will finish higher in the table.
- If all the criteria remain equal. The result of the head-to-head between the two teams will determine the points table position.
PSL Playoffs
The top 4 teams in the PSL Standings 2023 will qualify for the playoffs (knockout) stage.
The top 2 finishers of PSL 2023 Points Table will have the advantage of playing the qualifier. The winner of the qualifier will straight-away qualify for the finals. Meanwhile, the loser will also have the advantage of not being eliminated straight away.
The loser of the qualifier will face the winner of Eliminator 1 (3rd ranked team vs 4th ranked team) in Eliminator 2.
The winner of the Eliminator 2 will qualify for the final and face the winner of the Qualifier.
PSL Final
The winner of Qualifier and Eliminator 2 will face each other in the final. In case of a tie, a super over will decide the winner, if there is no result or conditions don’t allow to play the game then the team with the higher ranking in the PSL standings will be declared as Champions.
